OAALJ Board Meeting Minutes

February 22, 2005

In attendance: Greg Naugle, David Marcus, Alison Webster, Steve Demarest, Andrea Sloan.

Treasurer’s report: Balances as of 2/22/05:

Wash. Fed. CD $4,243.16, Wash. Fed MMA $1,844.70, US Bank Checking $4,537.17 (including $3,381.47, the proceeds from the Fall Conference).

OAALJ’s Website Update: Greg updated the site last week.  There were 1598 unique visits to the site in January.

Newsletter: Andrea reported that the newsletter is ready, and will be issued within the next few days.  Although we hope to send future issues via email, the current issue will be printed and mailed by Valley Mailing using the mailing list generated last year.

ALJ Career Satisfaction survey:  Andrea agreed to compile an email address list of ALJs to send survey invitations.  List will include ALJs from OAH, Workers Comp. Board, PUC, BOLI and Employment Relations Board.

Greg circulated a draft of the survey, and asked the Board members to review it and get back to him with comments/suggestions within the next week.  The plan is to have the survey ready to go by next month’s Board meeting.  

Resolution on ALJ Salaries:  David circulated a draft OAALJ resolution in support of the OAH and BOLI ALJs’ request to the Department of Administrative Services for a general salary increase.  The ALJs seek to have their salaries commensurate with other ALJ and AAG positions in Oregon and competitive in the national market.   The Board approved the Resolution in concept.  David will circulate a finalized version for signatures at the next meeting.

OAALJ Credit Card:  Steve will contact US Bank to see if there is any type of credit or debit card available for our business account.

The next Board meeting was scheduled for March 15, 2005.  The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
