OAALJ Board Meeting Minutes

April 13, 2005 

In attendance: Greg Naugle, Steve Demarest, David Marcus, Steve Rissberger, Larry Smith, Alison Webster.

Treasurer’s report: Washington Federal CD: $4,274, 31; Washington Federal MMA $1,848.85; US Bank checking $3,834.34- Total $9,957.60.

Steve reported that the Association could have a credit card for a $45 annual fee or a VISA check (debit) card for no charge.  The Board voted in favor of the check card.  Steve will complete the application for the debit card. 

OAALJ Dues:  The Board discussed whether it was appropriate to send a mailing to OAH ALJs enclosing a membership application and an Employment Department request for reimbursement, as the Employment Department may authorize up to $100 per employee for membership in professional organizations (depending on availability of funds).  The Discussion was tabled until the next meeting.   

OAALJ’s Website Update: There were 2266 unique visits to the site in March.  The Board discussed whether to add a “Members Only” log in, so that members could access information that was not available to the general public.  Greg will look into whether that feature is available for our website.

ALJ Career Satisfaction survey:  The Board members in attendance went over each question in the draft survey, and offered comments and suggestions as to wording and content.   Greg will incorporate the edits and create a “beta” survey for the Board members to take.  Once the software is tested, the survey should be ready for distribution. 

Membership:  To date, David has received no responses to the membership update letter. 

The next Board meeting was scheduled for May 11, 2005 at Hunan Kitchen in Wilsonville.  The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
