OAALJ Board Meeting Minutes

May 11, 2005

Hunan Kitchen, Wilsonville OR

In attendance: Greg Naugle, Steve Demarest, Steve Rissberger, Larry Smith, Andrea Sloan and Alison Webster.

Treasurer’s report: Washington Federal CD: $4,274, 31; Washington Federal MMA $1,848.85; US Bank checking $3,855.94- Total $9,979.10.

Steve reported that he sent in an application for a VISA check (debit) card.  Response should be forthcoming soon.    

OAALJ Scholarship for NJC:  The Board agreed to extend the deadline for applying for the scholarship.  A reminder about the scholarship and invitation to apply will be enclosed in the renewal letter. 

ALJ Career Satisfaction survey:  Greg reported that beta test (sent out to Board members only) worked well.  The invitation to participate in the survey will go out by email to all ALJs and ALJ managers within the next few weeks. 

Newsletter:  We will delay publication of the next issue until we have the survey results and other content to make the issue worthwhile reading. 

Membership:  Greg will follow up with Tom Ewing to get confirmation on whether and, if so, how the Employment Department is going to pay membership ALJs employed by the Office of Administrative Hearings. 

Other Matters:  Linda Lohr resigned from the Board, citing personal matters.  Larry Smith was elected Vice President to fill Linda's officer position.  We still need to fill two open positions on the Board.

The next Board meeting was scheduled for June 21, 2005 at Hunan Kitchen in Wilsonville.  The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
