OAALJ Board Meeting Minutes

June 21, 2005

In attendance: Greg Naugle, David Marcus, Steve Rissberger, Andrea Sloan and Alison Webster.

OAALJ ALJ Career Satisfaction Survey:  The Board previewed the survey results.  Forty nine ALJs responded to the survey, 45 completed it.  There were 35 ALJs from the OAH, 8 from WCB, 1 from PUC and one who marked "other."  The results were presented in bar chart form, showing the number and percentages for each question.

The Board discussed how best to compile the survey data, and how to present it to the ALJs.  We agreed that the survey results should be posted on the OAALJ website but, before the results are posted, they should be presented to Tom Ewing and John McCullough, the managers for OAH and WCB respectively.  The Board agreed to schedule a meeting with Tom and John for mid-July, and post the survey results on the website by July 18th. 

Prior Meeting Minutes:  The minutes from the May 11, 2005 Board meeting were unanimously approved.

OAALJ Scholarships:  The Board agreed to approve a scholarship of between $500 and $800 to assist an OAALJ member in attending the NAALJ fall conference in Chicago at the end of October 2005.

Newsletter:  The next newsletter will include a summary of the Career Satisfaction survey results.  If the newsletter is to go out in August, the deadline for submissions is July 25, 2005. 

The next Board meeting, a special meeting with Tom and John to review the survey results, was scheduled for July 14, 2005 at Thai Village in Wilsonville. 

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
