OAALJ Board Meeting MinutesOctober 18, 2005 Hunan Kitchen, Wilsonville OR In attendance: Greg Naugle, David Marcus, Larry Smith, Steve Demarest, Alison Webster, Jon Micheletti, Steve Rissberger and Richard Davis. Treasurer's Report: Washington Federal CD: $4,338.03; Washington Federal money market: $1,865.99; US Bank: $5,273.75. Total: $11,477.77. Prior Meeting Minutes: The minutes from the August 24, 2005 Board meeting were unanimously approved. Annual Meeting Planning: The Board discussed options for the Annual Meeting. The meeting was scheduled for December 8, 2005, location, speaker and agenda items to be determined. Greg will look into whether there is a nice winery along the I-5 corridor where the meeting could be held. If not, we should consider the Wilsonville Holiday Inn or the Sweetbrier Inn. Possible speakers were also discussed. Decisions regarding the location and speaker were put off until the November Board meeting. Newsletter: If the Newsletter is to go out in early November to notify members of the December 8 Annual Meeting, articles need to be in to Andrea within two weeks. Greg recommitted to drafting the ALJ Career Satisfaction Survey results and his President's Message. Larry and Steve plan to submit an update on the Classification Study Project Team, or Jon might do an article regarding ALJ compensation. Membership: Greg sent out a recruitment letter to 55 ALJs. We currently have 26 members. New Board Member: David Marcus moved to nominate Richard Davis to for the vacant Board position. Greg seconded the motion. Richard was approved by unanimous vote. OAALJ Website: In August, there were 1424 visits, and in September 1066 visits to the site. Other Matters: The terms of four current Board members are up as of the end of this year. David and Steve R. have both decided to pursue other matters and not run for reelection. Larry and Alison indicated that they would seek reelection, but as members only, not officers. David mentioned that one of the first issues for the 2006 Board to address is whether to host a continuing education conference next year. If the Board wants to host a conference next fall, the planning should start in January. Next meeting scheduled for November 9, 2005 at Hunan Kitchen. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. |
