OAALJ BOARD MEETING MINUTES
January 30, 2002

Present: Steve Rissberger, Monica Smith, Cathy Coburn, David Marcus, Jane Clink, and Dee Anna Hassanpour

The treasurer reported

$2,504.42 in savings

$7,908.35 in CD

$192.28 in checking for a grand total of $10,605.05:

Action on Annual Meeting Minutes was deferred so that Steve R and Cathy could make some edits. Approved October 11, 2001 meeting minutes.

Approved December 6, 2001 meeting minutes with the addition of the following sentence to end "Members present at special meeting agreed there was not a quorum."

The election results on resolution concerning independency of ALJ’s failed.

There were 16 votes against and 13 in favor.

A motion passed to publish actual results of vote in minutes only and not in newsletter.

Newsletter will say only that it failed by a small margin.

The NAALJ wants email addresses of our members. We split up list to get that information back to Dee Anna. Board members also divided up the list of potential members to call in our recruitment drive.

Discussion of next newsletter and what to publish. Decided to issue in early April to capture CLE results and committee on quality review recommendations.

Discussed next conference we would put on. David volunteered to chair it.

Targeted attendance is 100. Other members suggested for this education subcommittee were Bernadette Janet, Larry Smith, Allison Webster. Steve Rissberger and Jane Clink also volunteered.

Discussed having a scholarship for NAALJ conference each year and one for national judicial college. Deferred more discussion on last two topics to next meeting.

Board Meeting adjourned to March 6, 2002 at Holiday Inn in Wilsonville, Oregon at 6:00pm.
