HOLIDAY INN RESTAURANT, WILSONVILLE, OREGON Wednesday, April 2, 2003 Present: Steve Rissberger, Maurice (Skip) Russell, Dee Anna Hassenpour, Alison Webster, Kevin Anselm, Larry Smith, and Monica Smith ______________________________________________________________________________________ Minutes - The February 12, 2003, minutes were approved. Monica will forward Kevins excellent work product to Bill Young for posting on the website. Treasurers Report - Our regular checking account has $2,198.42 and our US Bank money market has $539.11. The Washington Federal money market has $2,802.10 and our CD has $4,022.59 for a total of $9,562.22. Our recent expenditures were $90 for the P.O. Box and $90 to renew the website name for another five years. We also paid $448.69 to Dani for the newsletter. Newsletter No one on the board had received any feedback from the latest issue of the newsletter. We discussed when to issue another and topics to address but deferred final decisions until Bruce was in attendance. Report regarding meeting with OPEU Deeanna attended the meeting with Ella Johnson and Cathy Coburn. This was a meeting to discuss selective salary increases with management. It went well and management seemed receptive and actively listened to the ALJs comments. We will wait to hear back from management before discussing further action in this regard. The Rules and Legislation subcommittee update We were the only group to submit any comments on the new rules and they were happily received. There is still time to comment. Board members will mention at this weeks first Friday lunches in Salem and Portland to have members email their comments to Deeanna. Membership Privileges Committee update Skip will set up a teleconference meeting with Steve R and Monica. Other board members gave some ideas on how to recruit more members. Website Bill agreed to continue working on website in exchange for a waiver of his dues. Kevin volunteered to work with him and Bill was fine with that. We discussed having the webmaster or webmistress get approval from board before posting of any political messages like "Support the Troops." Other Business Kevin raised issue of getting ALJs to join our organization that are not in the hearing officer panel. For example, federal ALJs doing Social Security or immigration and state referees, BOLI and more workers compensation ALJs. The membership privileges committee will discuss this issue further in their subcommittee meeting. Meeting adjourned before 8pm |
