for a total of $9,250.53
We decided to put $4,000 of the CD into the money market and put rest of CD back into a 13 month CD. The $4,000 is reserved to cover any potential losses from our annual conference.
Update of mailing list - The Employment Department has indicated that business email addresses of ALJ's can be released. Skip and Jane will contact sections in hearings officer panel to obtain the addresses. Bruce and Steve R will work on ones from PUC, tax section and worker's compensation.
Tuition Subsidy/NAALJ - discussed reimbursing members who attend this annual conference. We decided to have a subsidy for existing board members that represent our group. We would also award a smaller scholarship for any general member who is going like for CLE credit. Skip will draw up a policy for consideration of our members at the annual meeting. We decided to award $250 to Jane Clink as a scholarship for her attendance at NAALJ last year. We also decided to award a minimum of $350 to David for attendance at NAALJ this year subject to an increase depending on our liquidity after the November 16th conference.
Annual meeting date set for December 5, 2002 assuming Sweetbriar is available. Dee Anna will call and check on availability. If it is not available, the second choice for a date is October 24, 2002. Once date is set, Cathy will call potential speakers. Steve reminded all board members of their expiring term and to think about serving another term or not. Discussed need for 30-day notice of annual meeting, someone to take annual meeting minutes, do treasurer report and other duties.
Newsletter - was delayed by summer vacations. We decided to self-publish to save costs of over $400. We decided to get the next one out before making this change to give members as much notice of our November conference as possible.
