After a social hour and
dinner, board member, Cathy Coburn, introduced Judge Wollheim of
the Oregon Court of Appeals. He delivered a presentation on the
due process clause. He spoke for approximately 60 minutes and
then entertained questions from the audience.
Following a break, the
regular business meeting commenced with the president's report
from Steve Rissberger. The annual meeting minutes from October
18, 2001 were approved.
Bruce Black presented an
amendment to the bylaws which passed increasing the board to nine
members. Then the slate of current and new board members was
passed. Monica Smith and Cathy Coburn were reelected as board
members and three new members were elected: Larry Smith, Kevin
Anselm and Allison Webster.
Dee Anna Hassanpour
delivered the treasurer's report, which passed. She then
presented a resolution to amend the bylaws so that all
memberships expire on June 30th of each year beginning
June 30, 2003 to coincide with the NAALJ dues cycle. This measure
passed. Her next resolution was to increase dues to $65 a year
beginning July 1, 2003, which also passed. Another motion to
change the bylaws came from the floor to substitute March first
of each year for June first for the time when a new member can
join for the price of next years' dues.
The floor was opened for
additional new business. David Marcus presented a resolution
asking for the board to prioritize increasing membership in the
organization. His resolution passed asking the board to take
whatever measures appropriate to achieve goal of a total
membership of 60 by July 1, 2003.
The meeting then
adjourned.
