Oregon Association of Administrative Law Judges

RESOLUTION ADOPTED AT THE NOVEMBER 16, 1995
MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF THE
OREGON ASSOCIATION OF ADMINISTRATIVE LAW JUDGES

WHEREAS, it is an objective of the Association to promote standards of excellence and fairness in administrative hearings; and

WHEREAS, it is an objective of the Association to promote public awareness of and respect for administrative law procedures; and

WHEREAS, the citizens of Oregon are entitled to the fair, prompt decision of contested cases by impartial, competent and detached adjudicators; and

WHEREAS, at present, the failure to separate structurally the adjudicatory from the administrative and policy-making functions provided for in Oregon's system of administrative law compromises the appearance of fairness and, in some instances, fairness in fact in these adjudications,

BE IT THEREFOR RESOLVED that the Oregon Association of Administrative Law Judges shall encourage and support the creation of a centralized office of administrative hearings as a separate and distinct agency.
